My name is Amanda Baker. I am from Nanaimo, BC and will graduate from high school in June 2009. I first met Brent in grade 9 when he started giving me lessons weekly. I was playing various sports at the time, but by the end of the year I really had a strong passion for golf and wanted to pursue it seriously. To do this, I joined the Collegiate Program this September.

Brent has taught me so much about the game of golf. He has educated me on proper swing planes and how to constantly work on the right positions of my golf swing. Working out at the gym and doing exercises that focus on areas of my swing that need improvement have been really helpful. I now have a good understanding of how things work in my swing because he takes the time to explain why on video and in conversation. Brent is well known for his short game techniques and I can see why. The best part of my game is chipping and using different shots to get it close. It has really made my handicap go down dramatically.

Beyond Brent's ability to teach, he has a great personality, which makes being at the golf course always fun. He is very positive about what he does and he has helped make my attitude both on and off the golf course better. He is a great mentor and always gives me good advice. Most importantly, he knows how to teach based on different learning styles.

Looking on video at the difference in my swing has been dramatic. To see so much improvement with my swing and my scores has been so motivating for me. A long-term goal for me would be to go down to the US on a golf scholarship. Also, a really important short-term goal is to become one of the top junior golfers in Canada. I just want to keep getting better and with Brent's help I believe I can do that.
