Hitting Irons on the Toe

Question:

I hit all my irons on the toe, or near the outer edge of the iron. I've tried standing closer, but it feels awkward and doesn't help. Any suggestions? p.s. I hit all my woods just fine. I play 6 to 7 times a week, handicap 8.

Answer:

First of all check your divot pattern; if they are left of the target (outside in) you need to work on your swing path. Concentrate on swinging the club down into the ball more from the inside. This will eliminate shots off the toe of the club.

If your divots are straight, I suggest getting your clubs looked at by fitting specialist.
