Question:
Do you tremble with trepidation when your ball is plugged in the lip of a bunker?
Answer:
Vanquishing the Sand Dragon
"Better pass a danger once, than always live in fear".
Use the loft of the club, a sharp, descending swing and the resistance of the sand to pop the ball out softly on the green. Follow these steps to transform trepidation into confidence:
- Align your shoulders and hips to match the angle of the slope.

- Execute your back swing using primarily your hands and arms (this will give you a steep angle). Brace your body by keeping your back knee flexed, keeping you centered over the ball.

- Use the resistance of the sand to your advantage. Hit down approximately 1-2 inches behind the ball.

- Let the club catch up with your hands. Do not purposely follow through. The resistance of the sand will slow down the speed of the club, resulting in a high, soft shot.
