Trouble with Short Range

Question:

I am a RH player and when I use from a 7 to a sand wedge I arc round to the left ending 10 to 20 metres off target. The long irons and fairway woods are fine.

Answer:

If your shorter irons are hooking and your longer clubs are fine, check that your front arm is not breaking down through impact. This is commonly referred to as a "chicken wing". The chicken wing is an unconscious compensation many players make in an attempt to square the club face. This is caused by your body spinning out toward the target early, resulting in the club being stuck behind your body. If you are interested in receiving a through-swing checkpoint picture and text outlining a drill that will help you work through this, please email me: brent@brentmorrisongolf.com and I will send you a username and password that will give you access to view this drill online.
